The work is invisible when it goes well and blamed when it does not. Facilitators carry the emotional weight of aligning competing interests, navigating organizational politics, and keeping momentum across parties — often without formal recognition, adequate resources, or career progression tied to this skill. This lack of appreciation reinforces the broader underestimation of collaboration effort and makes it harder to attract and retain talented facilitators.
